I represented Scotland on a US trade mission to MIT, and was awarded CEO of one of the Fast Growing Technology Companies in Scotland in the Deloitte Touche Fast 50. I was Lead Strategist for Scottish Enterprise Business Angel peer funding Investment network, Non-Executive Board Director for the Scottish Council Development & Industry, Interactive Media Alliance Scotland and the English Speaking Union.
Qualified solicitor/Notary Public after business exit. Was CF10/11 for a boutique investment firm (investment trusts and hedge fund). In 2011 I moved to Lloyds Banking Group Scottish Widows, and now have a wide understanding of government, private sector, entrepreneurial start up and large listed company cultures. Building on my award-winning dot com entrepreneurial experience, I'm particulary interested in risks & controls and regulation for FinTech , InsurTech, RegTech, AI, Generative Language Models, ChatGPT, machine learning, digital currency, NFTs, Blockchain, DLT, smart contracts, tokenisation, operational risk, outsource provider oversight & cyber and physical security.
After a post-graduate journalism career I entered public service in the US Diplomatic Corps, with security clearance. Following maternity leave, I was in Executive Search (Engineering, Finance & Government). I then started my own business which linked up with the University of Edinburgh to develop & spin out graduate returner training. My business developed multi-site training for long-term unemployed adults for Employment Services UK, with data analysis, image editing , web design & hosting, domain name registration, and cybercafés using the same people, kit and connectivity.
